Aspergillus niger Enhances the Efficiency of Sewage Sludge Biochar as a Sustainable Phosphorus Source

چکیده
Phosphorus-rich biochar derived from sewage sludge (SS) could be a sustainable alternative P source for agriculture. However, most of is not readily available to plants. We evaluated the potential release SS into soil solution by Aspergillus niger. Additionally, we assessed effect on solubilization phosphate minerals fungus. An incubation study was performed 7 days in shaken flasks containing culture medium supplemented, or not, with P-fixing soil. Biochar showed dual role A. niger: (i) improved AlPO4 and rock phosphate; (ii) acted as source. niger solubilized up 50% contained biochar. A combined application increased availability 500 times These results suggest that P-use efficiency niger, allowing use lower doses this amendment. findings contribute better understanding phosphate-solubilizing microorganisms interaction between Furthermore, underpin fertilizer value Finally, our present win–win environmental benefit it reduces accumulation improves efficiency.

The Phosphorus Assimilation of Aspergillus Niger
In his classic researches on the nutritive requirements of lower fungi, R&in1 made the observation more than forty years ago that the presence of a phosphate in the medium is necessary for the support of life of Aspergillus niger. The amount required was indeed small, but when this was omitted from the culture medium, the mold failed to develop. Since that time a number of different culture med...

متن کاملBiochar enhances Aspergillus niger rock phosphate solubilization by increasing organic acid production and alleviating fluoride toxicity.
During fungal rock phosphate (RP) solubilization, a significant quantity of fluoride (F(-)) is released together with phosphorus (P), strongly inhibiting the process. In the present study, the effect of two F(-) adsorbents [activated alumina (Al2O3) and biochar] on RP solubilization by Aspergillus niger was examined. Al2O3 adsorbed part of the F(-) released but also adsorbed soluble P, which ma...

One of the significant factors affecting biochar properties is the pyrolysis temperature. This study aimed to investigate the effect of pyrolysis temperature on the properties and fractionation of Zn and Pb in biochars produced by sewage sludge. Biochars were prepared at temperatures of 300 to 700 °C and the physicochemical properties, availability, and fractionation of Zn and Pb were investiga...
